my self Gitismita das how can i apply for IPS officer.
i m a student of B.tech final year wth computer science engineering dept. what is the age limit for IPS. what qualification is needed for IPS.please guide me sir..

Lower age limit for IPS is 21 years. Candidates above 30 years are not eligible to apply. Anyhow, age relaxation is given for reserved categories. OBC candidates can apply up to 33 years. In case of SC/ST, the upper age limit is 35 years.

IPS - Indian Police Service and to become an IPS officer, one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam, conducted by UPSC every year.

The age limit for IPS, Civil Service Exam is from 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for OBC candidate up to 3 years and for SC/ST candidate up to 5 years.

Apart from this the eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognized University with good Physical Fitness.

The candidate should have possessed minimum prescribed Physical requirement.

IPS stands for the INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, in which one can apply through a civil services examination called UPSC (UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION).
The educational requirement for this examination is a graduation degree from a recognized college,.
The age limit for this examination is --
21-30 years for the GENERAL candidates
21-33 years for the OBC candidates,
21-35 years for the SC\ST candidates,..

You must have a Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University to become eligible for IPS examination.

Hence after your B.Tech. completion you can apply for IPS examination which is also known as Civil Services examination. The exam is conducted by UPSC every year.

Hence don't worry and start your preparation for IPS examination because the examination is one of the top level examination of th country and only those who are very well prepared will succeed.

For Indian Police Service you will have to appear for the Civil Services Examination. For qualification requirement any Bachelor's degree is accepted. This also includes the Bachelor of Technology degree that you are pursuing.

Do not hesitate in applying for the Civil Services Examination. But before you do, please ensure that you are meeting all the criteria including the physical criteria, which is also required for female candidates.


Eligibility

1. You must have Indian nationality.

2. Any Bachelor's degree will be considered as qualifying course.

3. No issue of percentage in graduation.

4. The lower age to apply is 21 years.

5. Upper age of candidate should not exceed 30 years.

6. But for OBC, 33 years is upper age limit.

Physical Criteria

Male

1. Height should be 165 cm. For ST the requirement is 160 cm.

2. Chest should be at least 84 cm with minimum of 5 cm expansion.


Female

1. General should be 150 cm tall while ST should be 145 cm tall.

2. Chest should be 79 cm with 5 cm expansion.

3. Should not be pregnent during medical tests.


Vision

1. 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye

2. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye
