Government jobs in Vocational Education in India
The aim of vocational education in India is to develop skilled manpower through diversified courses for meeting the needs of mainly the unorganized sector and for installation of self-employment skills in people through a large number of self-employment oriented courses. In India vocational education is offered through Polytechnic colleges and Industrial Training Institutes. The shortage of skill in the Indian economy nowadays is largely because of the neglect of vocational education and according a paper recently submitted by the ASSOCHAM nearly 300 million people in the age group of 18 and 50 are unemployed due to their inadequate marketable skills.
Demand for skilled manpower in India:
In India, every year approximately two million graduates and about 6,50,000 engineering graduates pass out of the Indian universities. According to a report, nearly 2/3rd of the 6,50,000 engineers are to be re-skilled in such a way that they can get jobs in the industry. Simultaneously, the developed world needs knowledgeable workers and skilled professionals. It is expected that by the year 2020, there will be a shortage of 40 million working professionals and according to a report, about 41% of employers all over the world are having difficulty in filing positions because of the lack suitable talent in their markets.
Government emphasis on vocational education:
Government of India in the recently years has laid attention on streamlining vocational education in such a way that it fulfills the developing need of the market by laying attention on employability skills. Nearly 1.5 to 2 million students have registered for vocational training and education in India and these candidates can get very good job prospects if they clearly develop their technical skills.
