Jaypee Institute of Information Technology was  was set up by the Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan. It is located near Noida. The institute conducts entrance exam for the selection of eligible candidates in to various Ph.D courses. The candidates are admitted to the doctoral courses on the basis of the marks secured in the entrance exam.

Structure of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Ph.D in Chemical Engineering Entrance Exam

The Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Ph.D entrance exam consists of two papers – Objective and Short-Subjective. The first paper includes objective type questions of 40 marks and the second one contains short-subjective questions of 60 marks each. Each paper comprises of two parts – Part I and Part II. In the objective section, Part I includes 5 questions from Mathematics and Part II contains 35 questions from the respective subject. In the short-subjective section, Part I comprises of 2 questions from Mathematics and Part II includes 8 questions from the concerned subject. The entrance exam is about 120 minutes of duration.

  • Numerical Methods: Numerical Integration, Numerical Solutions of Linear and Non-Linear Algebraic Equations, Runga - Kutta Methods
  • Linear Algebra: Matrix Algebra, Eigen Values and Eigenvectors, Systems of Linear Equations
  • Complex Variables: Cauchy’s Integral Theorem, Analytic Functions, Residue Theorem, Taylor and Laurent Series
  • Differential Equations: Laplace and Fourier Transforms, Linear and Nonlinear Equations, Initial and Boundary Value Problems
  • Calculus: Continuity and Differentiability, Maxima and Minima, Gauss and Green’s Theorems, Divergence and Curl, Evaluation of Definite and Improper Integrals
  • Probability and Statistics: Conditional Probability, Correlation, Regression, and Covariance, Mean, Median, Mode, and Standard Deviation, Normal and Binomial Distributions

  • Chemical Engineering: Fluid Mechanics and Mechanical Operations: Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids, Free and Hindered Settling, Conveying of Solids, Elementary Boundary Layer Theory, Fluid Statics
  • Chemical Technology: Fertilizers, Polymerization Industries, Inorganic Chemical Industries, PVC and Polyester Synthetic Fibers, Polymerization Industries
  • Process Calculations and Thermodynamics: Partial Molar Properties, Chemical Reaction Equilibria, Laws of Conservation of Mass and Energy, First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics, Bypass and Purge Calculations
  • Mass Transfer: Momentum, Dehumidification and Adsorption, Heat and Mass Transfer Analogies, Fick’s Laws, Mass Transfer Coefficients, Leaching, HTU & NTU Concepts
  • Chemical Reaction Engineering: Non-Isothermal Reactors, Theories of Reaction Rates, Non-Ideal Reactors, Single and Multiple Reactions in Ideal Reactors
  • Heat Transfer: Heat Transfer Coefficients, Types of Heat Exchangers and Evaporators, Conduction, Convection, and Radiation, Condensation and Evaporation, Boiling
  • Plant Design and Economics: Principles of Process Economics and Cost Estimation, Pay back Period, Heat Exchangers, Optimization in Design, Cost Indexes
  • Instrumentation and Process Control: Control Valves, Feed Forward Control, Measurement of Process Variables, Transfer Functions and Dynamic Responses of Simple Systems, Analysis of Closed Loop Systems

Eligibility Criteria

For appearing in the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Ph.D in Chemical Engineering entrance exam, the candidates must have completed M.Tech degree in Engineering or Technology in the concerned branch or equivalent CGPA. They must have scored at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree. The candidates should have good academic background.

How to Apply?

The candidates can download the application form from the official website of the institute, which is www.jiit.ac.in. In order to do this, they have to remit an amount of Rs. 500/- through Demand Draft. The Demand Draft should be taken in favour of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology. Also, it must be payable at Noida or Delhi. After completing the form, the candidates must send it “The Registrar, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, A-10 Sector-62, Noida, Uttar Pradesh - 201307.” The required documents must be enclosed along with it. The candidates can also procure the form through post by sending a request letter accompanied with the DD.

  • Never put any box vacant in the application form
  • Enter the details about the centre and the course with utmost care
  • Keep the copies of the DD and filled in applications for reference in future
