Junior Translator CSOL Exam 2012
Staff Selection Commission conducts an entrance exam called Junior Translator (CSOL Exam) for the selection of eligible candidates for the post of Junior Translators in different offices functioning under the Official Language Department of Indian Government. This exam is organized by Staff Selection Commission on each year. It is a Group B posts in the Central Government Offices. It gives an opportunity for a large number of candidates for getting a prestigious job in the Central Government Services. The exams conducted by SSC are quite tough and the competition is also high.
Structure of CSOL Exam
The recruitment for the Junior Translator post is on the basis of a written test and a personality test. The written test is the first part of the exam. The written test consists of questions of two papers. The first paper includes objective type questions from the subjects of English and Hindi. The marks given for the exam is 200 marks. The time given for completing the first paper is two hours. The second paper consists of essay questions and Translations of Hindi and English passages. The marks awarded for the second paper is also 200 and the time allotted for completing the exam is two hours. Those who qualify the first part of the exam will be called for the Personality test. This section consists of questions of the candidates’ personal interests, general knowledge, communication skill, personality etc. Those who qualify the entire test will be recruited for the Junior Translator post.
Syllabus for CSOL Exam
The written test consists of questions of two papers. It comprises of questions from the subjects of English and Hindi. The topics for the exam are described below.
Paper 1
General Hindi (100 Questions) (100 Marks)
- Error recognition
- Fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc.)
- Vocabulary
- Spellings
- Grammar
- Sentence structure
- Synonyms
- Antonyms
- Sentence completion
- Correct use of words
- Phrases and idioms
- Ability to write language correctly, precisely and effectively
General English (100 Questions) (100 Marks)

- Translation 2 passages (1 each from Hindi to English & vice versa)
- Two Essays (1 each in Hindi & English)
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who have a Post Graduate Degree in English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject can apply for the test. The candidates who have a Post Graduate degree in any discipline with English and Hindi as an elective or compulsory subject in degree level can also apply for the test. Those who have two years of experience in the translation works in any Central or State government departments can apply for the test. The applicants who have more than 35 years cannot apply for the test.
How to Apply?
The application form for the Junior Translator of Staff Selection Commission is published in all leading news papers of India. The candidates have to take the Photostat copy of the exam. The candidates can also prepare the application form in an A4 size plain paper. The completed form should be send to the Staff Selection Commission with a Central Recruitment Fee Stamps available from any Post Offices. The SC/ST/PH candidates and the female candidates have no exam fee.
How to fill the Form?
The guide lines for filling the application form should be mentioned in the exam notification in the news paper. The form should be in the prescribed format given in the exam notification. The photograph of the candidates should be pasted in the place provided for that. The form should be filled by the candidates in their handwriting with black pen. The signature of the candidates and their guardian need to be put in the column for that. The Central recruitment Fee Stamp should be send with the form. The filled form should be reached before the last date.

Study Plan
The candidates have to collect the syllabus given in the website and develop an idea about each topics for the exam. Give more time for preparing the difficult portions. They have to spend three hours regularly for preparing for the exam. Collects the available notes from all possible sources and prepare with the help of that. It helps them to understand the portions clearly. After completing each portions of study conduct mock tests. Collect the previous question papers which helps the candidates the style of the questions and which topics are more important. Following a good study plan helps the candidates to win the exam.

The exam score is published in the official website www.ssc.org.in. Candidates can check it for getting the results.
Score Validity
The exam score is valid for one year by the completion of the recruitment of candidates for the specified posts.

Where to get the answer of junior translators exam held on 18.12.2011
Why don’t we get direct recruitment after clearing any entrance exam?
It appears strange to wait for vacancies and to fill the forms again.Does not it a long and tiring process?
