Tumkur University is located in the state of Karnataka in the city called Tumkur and it was formed in the year 2004. The vision of the university is ‘knowledge is eternal’ and keeping this vision in mind the university is heading towards the spread of higher education.

With the aim of achieving total human personality development, the university is attempting interdisciplinary and integrated approaches in the dissemination of knowledge. The university was formed for the purpose of meeting the higher education requirements of the local people. The administrative headquarters of the university is located at Tumkur.

The university is planning to set up online university that will be offering virtual classroom to the students. Within six years of its formation, the university has made several improvements in the course structure and the methodology of teaching followed.

Several new courses were also introduced by the university and the campus of the university has been developed well with facilities like digital library, virtual classroom and several other facilities as well.
