International Institute of Information Technology at Bangalore is shortly called as IIIT-B ad it is a graduate school established in the year 1999. In the year 2005, the institute was conferred with the status of Deemed University according to Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956. The institute is promoted by the Karnataka Government and the industry of Information Technology and it is governed by the governing body with its chairman as Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy of Infosys. The university is located in the Electronic City Zone of Bangalore that houses major IT and Electronics corporations like STPI, Flextronics, General Electricals, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, Wipro and Infosys.

The university does not offer any UG courses, rather it offers PG and Ph. D course in addition to engaging itself in a number of research activities as well. Tech degrees. The integrated Master of Technology course offered by the University is meant for candidates with higher secondary qualification and it is essential that candidates must have studied mathematics as one of the subjects at the higher secondary level securing first class. For admissions to Master of Technology courses, candidates must have completed their Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in first class or they must hold three-year B. Sc degree followed by M. Sc with first class in any of the physical science subjects or candidates with MCA in first class are also eligible to apply.

Minimum qualification requirement for Ph. D and M.S by research programmes, candidates must have completed their four-year degree course in engineering or MCA/M. Sc degree holders can also apply.
