there are many colleges which will allow you in engineering as lateral admission

it will vary from state to state

for example

if you take andhrapradesh then ECET is the examination which will take diploma students into engineering colleges directly in to the second year

like wise each and every state will have their own CET's

In India there are many colleges which offer admission to engineering courses through lateral entry. This process will be different in different states. Each state has their own CET. The list of colleges is endless. You can find out the colleges in you own state which offer lateral entry through their websites. Many colleges offering the lateral entry diploma students.For lateral entry you have to qualify the CET exam.The CET exams will vary state to state.
For Example consider the Andhra Pradesh state conducting ECET exam.Diploma students those qualified in ecet exam they are eligible for different lateral entry offering college.
Some of lateral entry offering colleges in andhra pradesh are
RGM COLLEGE,S.V UNIVERSITY,S.K UNIVERSITY,CBIT,JNTU AFFILIATED COLLEGES etc.
So prepare for well for entrance exam.
