Vel’s University began its journey as the Vel’s Group of Institutions, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India conferred the institution with the status of deemed university. The chancellor of the university visualizes it to become a university that is globally more competitive and internationally recognized. Vel’s University is popularly known as Vel’s Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) and it was established under sec 3 of the university Act 1956.
