Maritime Archeologist - How to become Maritime Archeologist?
Maritime archeology otherwise known as marine archeology is a branch within the Archeology. This particular field involves the study of human interaction with sea, rivers and lakes through the investigation of related physical ruins. These physical remains may include some things like vessels, port related structures, flooded landscapes, shore-side facilities, etc. This branch has a specialization within it called the nautical archeology which involves the study of ship construction and its use. The professionals specialized in maritime archeology are called the maritime archeologist.
Qualifying Exam
Marine archeologists usually require master’s degree qualification in archeology specialized in maritime archeology. Numerous universities in India and abroad offer this particular branch of study at undergraduate, postgraduate and at doctoral levels. After pursuing this degree, they need to undergo training in this particular field. Other qualifications like national vocational, diploma and short term courses are also available to pursue knowledge in this field. Most of the archeologist gets high designation jobs after gaining experience in maritime archeology or related experiences.

Skills required for a Maritime Archeologist
Maritime archeologists need good skills to carry out their jobs perfectly. They need some core skills such as intellectual skills, technical or practical skills, administrative skills and some personal qualities. These professionals should have strong background in the history, languages and culture of the relevant field. Their practical skills include diving, surveying qualities, etc. and must have good communication skills. In addition to all, they need knowledge in computer, related software and information management.
