Manipal University is one of the dream institutes for the professional aspirants. The university offer a large number of professional courses to candidates interested in different fields of study including the Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Management, IT etc. Every year the university conducts the BE lateral entry online examination for the diploma and science graduates. The qualified candidates of lateral entry exam can get admission into the technology campus at Manipal.

Structure of MIT BE (Lateral Entry)

The lateral entry entrance paper consists of two sections with one hour duration. The questions cover the syllabus of the diploma program and the subjects are,

Part I

  • Mathematics: 30 questions
  • Physics: 10 questions
  • Chemistry: 10 questions
  • Communication Skills: 10 questions

Part II

Carries 40 questions from the diploma branch of the candidate,

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants having three year diploma in any engineering streams recognized by Board of technical examination in the respective state can apply for the MIT BE entrance examination.  The science graduates with Mathematics as a subject in their undergraduate curriculum can also apply for the test. The candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks in the final university/board examination. The B. Sc candidates can apply to any interested stream of engineering program but the diploma gradates can apply only to their diploma stream or related in the engineering level.

How to Apply?

The candidates can get the form through different ways,

  • From the selected out lets of SBI/Axis bank
  • Send a request letter for form through Post to MU admission center
  • Download the form from http://www.manipal.edu
  • Visit the official suite and register by online

How to fill the Form?

The instruction for writing the information on the form is there with the manual purchased with the form. After reading the information stated in the manual the applicant can fill the form without making any error. Applicant can fill the form using a pen as suggested in the instruction form. The filled form should arrive at the center before the final date for submission.

Study Plan

A well structured study plan is needed to score high in the test. The number of seats for the lateral entry program in MIT is limited and hence only the top scorers can make their admission into Manipal University. Cover the suggested syllabus for the lateral entry program without avoiding any topics. Use the text books in the diploma level and graduation level for preparing the examination. There also many online preparation resources are available for the lateral entry candidates. The reference books on each subject are also useful for the basic preparation. Preparation based on question papers and mock test are also effective. Find your own method for improving the communication language skills and improve the vocabulary part to score high in the communication section.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The result will publish two weeks after the examination is conducted. The candidates can see the rank list on the official site or on the notice board of MIT.

The score will valid for MIT lateral entry admission time only.

    I have completed 2nd PUC with an average of 56% in 2005. i have joined BE with Telecommunication department in KIT college, Tiptur. I got detained after my 1st year(that is after 2 semsters). Then i was eligible to join 2nd year. i got detained again in 2nd year. Now i have 4 bak subjects. Then I got a job in good job in the medical transcription company. How to contine my BE education with any distance learning or any correspondence courses.

    @arushi verma: Yes, you can get admission to 2nd Year in MIT. Applications for these admissions(for students currently in their first year of BE/B Tech in AICTE approved institutes in India) are accepted from April-May onwards. As of now, no date has been announced for the same. This is only to give you a rough idea.     my son completed 1year eng in a jntu affliated college in the year 2008-09 he was not allowed to attend for 2year e xams as he did not have enough attendance. he suffered from viral fever .can he join inthe 2year at your college?
