Paper of Process Instrumentation Systems is the study of comprising control systems of various processes such as refineries, factories and industries. Paper of Process Instrumentation Systems also includes the study of modification and control of instrumentation systems.

Which Pattern is followed?

Paper of Process Instrumentation Systems contains 7 questions in it. There are only long answer type questions and each question comprises of 2-3 sub-questions in it. In total, there are 5 questions to be attempted. Question no. 1 is necessary to be attempted, rest 4 questions to be solved from remaining 6 questions. Questions asked are of each modules and weightage is decided on the no. of lectures.

Questions asked often:

Paper contains questions which are dynamic behaviour of 1st order system, meaning of rest action, response curve for step load change using PID controller, selective control & its importance, general features of electronic controller, discrete state process control, typical heating system, split range control scheme, construction and working of Pneumatic PI controller using bellows, batch versus continuous process control, controller tuning, interactive & non-interactive systems, graph of resulting controller output, adaptive control, multivariable systems, process characteristics, dead time processes etc.

Tips for exam:

Maximum marks only can be scored if candidates write their answers properly such as include some graphs and circuit diagram required in an answer. Never leave any answer blank and attempt every question to get marks. Answers should be written in sequence wise.

Total time and marks allotted:

Maximum marks which can be obtained in the paper are 100 and time which is fixed for it is 3 hours only.
