Pay scale for Junior Engineer in Government Jobs


The job of Junior Engineer differs from one organization to another on the basis of the field of engineering for which they are appointed as Junior Engineers. For instance, if the case of an Electrical Junior Engineer, he will be responsible for operation of switches and equipment in control room to bring about proper conditions in transmission and distribution of power in major substations.

The pay scale of Junior Engineers in most of the Government organizations in India is Rs. 9300-34800 plus a grade of Rs. 4200 irrespective of whether they are civil engineers, Electrical Engineers or Mechanical engineers.

Most of the government organization require that candidates must be diploma holders in any branch of engineering like electrical, civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics & communication, telecommunication, etc… from a recognized institution, even some organizations calls for application from degree holders in these branches of engineering for the post of Junior Engineer.

Age limit & experience required for junior engineer position:

The maximum age limit prescribed by most of the Government organizations for the position of Junior Engineer is 40 years. Even though, some organizations recruit fresh graduates, some organizations require that candidates must have worked at least for three years in the respective field of engineering.

Hiring Process:

The hiring process followed by most of the government organizations for the post of Junior Engineer is written test and even some organizations recruit candidates through Walk-in-interview as well.

Scope of Junior Engineer position:

Junior Engineers can be promoted as senior engineers after completion of some years of service in this position and this position will enable the candidates to acquire great experience and knowledge in their respective field of education.
