A software Tester is one who ensures the quality of a Software product. The major area of employment of these professionals is Software developing Companies. The steps included in the software testing process are Verification, Error Detection and Validation. In the verification process, the developed software is tested against the benchmark put forward by the Company. The second step includes the correction of bugs encountered in the source code.

Validation step determines whether the product developed is up to the requirements of the client. After checking all these requirements, a detailed report on the result of testing process is sent back to the software developer. After making necessary corrections, the product is returned back to the software tester for final review.

Qualifying Exams

Software testing courses are offered at diploma and post diploma levels. Certificate courses are also offered for this professional program. Certain organizations offer training cum placement programs to aspirants who are interested in software testing. A graduation in Computer Science or in the allied subjects is much desirable to pursue a short-term program in Software testing. Higher qualification in this stream helps aspirants to have a good career in education sector also.

Those who have completed matriculation can apply for diploma programs in software testing. After completion of diploma course, the aspirant can opt for higher study options like Postgraduate diploma in Software testing. Another option is to undergo software-testing course after completion of graduation in Computer Science. For this, the aspirant has to pass XII class with Science as the main stream of study.

    I just wanted to know that I’m graduating in november 2011, I’hv got lateral entry from NIIT to kuvempu university’s distance course of B.Sc(IT) directly to the fourth semester. whether i can be considered as a graduate from regular or not.
    Pls help me out, i’m confused.
