Engineering is the profession, skill, art and discipline of applying and acquiring practical, social, economic, mathematics and scientific knowledge in order to design and build processes, materials, systems, devices, machines and structures. Engineering course in India is gaining importance these days in India and this has resulted in the introduction of many engineering colleges in the nation. When it comes to engineering education in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, the state has four to five engineering colleges. This number includes both government and private colleges.

Eligibility requirements for getting into engineering courses in the state:

For seeking admission to the state quota seats available in the engineering colleges functioning in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, candidates must have completed their higher secondary education in science stream from the higher education board of the state of Jammu & Kashmir. For the state quota seats in engineering, admission is done based on Jammu & Kashmir Common Entrance Test. Even candidates belonging to other states can apply for seats for other state candidates and for these seats admission is done on AIEEE score of candidates.

Pattern for JKCET examination:

The JKCET examination will be of multiple choice format from mathematics, physics and chemistry subjects. There will be one paper for each of the subject mentioned earlier with each paper carrying 75 marks. Students belonging to Jammu & Kashmir will have to get through this examination for seeking admission to the state quota seats in the following engineering colleges in the state:
