The Physics and chemistry paper of the Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam takes place on the same day. In addition to this paper, there is a Math paper which is to be given on the next day. The physics and chemistry paper are of 150 minutes and have 120 objective type questions. All the objective questions contain 4 marks. There is rough sheet provided along with the answer booklet to do any kind of solving of equations or writing of formulas etc.

The physics paper has topics like optics, current electricity, magnetism, solids and semi-conductor devices, electromagnetic waves, principles of communications etc. The chemistry paper includes topics like surface chemistry, chemical kinetics, hydrocarbons, stereochemistry etc. The standard of these entrance exam papers is the same as higher secondary or any other equivalent exam.

There is negative marking on the paper in case of an incorrect answer. For every wrong answer the candidate loses half a mark from the total score. Negative marking has been recently introduced so as to avoid any kind chance or guess work on the papers.  Also the candidate is allowed to keep the question set after the exam for general reference.
