India Meteorological Department (IMD) was established in the year 1875 by the Government of India. This is a central authority for taking care of all the meteorological work in the country. The  headquarters of the India Meteorological Department was initially in Calcutta. The headquarters of IMD were soon shifted to Simla, then to Pune and finally to New Delhi. After being established, IMD has progressively developed its infrastructure for meteorological observations, forecasting and weather services, and communications. The company has achieved an extensive scientific growth. The company has concurrently cherished the growth of meteorology and atmospheric science in India.

Job Profile:

India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi invites applications from eligible candidates for the posts of Research Scientists, Research Associates and junior Research Fellows.

No. of posts: Research Scientist - 1, Research Associate-I (RA-I) - 13, Research Associate-II (RA-II) - 4, Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1

Pay Scale – Research Scientist - Consolidated Pay of Rs. 35000/-per month, Research Associate-I (RA-I) - Rs. 22000, Research Associate-II (RA-II) - Rs. 23000, Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - Rs. 12000/ Rs. 16000/ Rs. 18000 per month for first two years based on educational qualification.
