Computer programming and utilization seems to be the core subject of computer science department but is also taught to any other engineer. Under GUT in the first semester there are 6 theories and 5 practical subjects. Total credits for semester-I is 28 which is divided into 17 (theory) and 11 (practical).

Syllabus:

The six digit paper code of Computer Programming & Utilization is 110003. The syllabus is divided into 3 sections. The first section talks about computer and programming like different generations of computer, logic required to write a program and so on. The second section deals with C programming i.e. the procedural programming language. Any computer student is first taught C. Last section deals with C++ which is an object oriented language and it is the advance version of C.

Time duration and maximum marks:

Maximum marks for this paper of semester 1 are70 and a candidate gets 2 and a half hour to complete his/her paper.

Division of paper:

Computer programming paper is a pure application based paper where students need to understand the language instead of learning so that he can answer logical questions. There are 5 questions which have 2-3 sub parts in the paper and all are compulsory. Candidates are given internal choices quite frequently. Students need to write program, deduce output, and explain some library functions.
