How to enter the Indian Naval Sector?

Officer Entry:
Normally Officers recruitment in the Indian Navy is advertised in the employment newspapers and all important dailies and regional newspapers. Selection of all officers under permanent commission, except naval academy entry, 10+2 NDA and NCC special entry is done through written examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, followed by the Service Selection Board interview. In the case of candidates selection for Short Service Commission entries, there will not be any written test and the candidates applying for short service commission are shortlisted based on the norms laid by the Naval Headquarters. Officers can be posted in any of the branches like education, electrical, engineering and executive branch of Indian Navy.
Educational qualification and other qualifications needed for Officer Position:
Candidates must be degree holders from a recognized institution and they should also be mentally and physically fit according to the medical standards. Candidates with extra-curricular activity certificates, swimming and sports will be given preference.
Sailor Entry:
The equipment, sensors, weapons and propulsion machinery on board are operated and maintained by sailors of the Indian Navy. Candidates can apply online through the website of Indian Navy for the position of Sailors. The candidates selected are offered with required training at different intervals during their service as sailors. However, before this they are offered with initial training at INS Chilka in the state of Orissa and at different naval establishments located at different parts of India. Before the candidates are sent on-board, they are also offered with pre-release courses with a view to enable them to settle down in civil life. These personnel will be posted anywhere in India and they will have to travel on submarines and onboard ships to different parts of the country.
