Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an aptitude test which has been introduced by the Government of India. It was introduced to enhance the research opportunities in the Medical field. This program aims in encouraging the young talents of the country. Therefore through this program the students with right aptitude are able to continue their education in research areas as well.

This program is supported by the Department of Science and Technology. The programs are structured and administrated by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Candidates are selected from +1, +2 level as well as from those who have done under graduate programs in Science /Medicine. Engineering students are also selected on the basis of their aptitude for research.

Structure of KVPY AT for Medicine

The question paper for this examination is structured in an objective type multiple choice manner. Objective type multiple choice questions provide the candidate with four choices. The candidate is supposed to choose the right answer from the given four options. It also includes a separate section which consists of descriptive questions. For this the answers has to be explained in detail with supporting equations and diagrams. There are no negative markings for this examination.

Syllabus for KVPY AT for Medicine

There is no particular syllabus for this examination. Questions will be included from any of the topics up to standard twelve. It is a written test which aims in testing the analytical ability and the level of understanding of the candidate.

Eligibility Criteria

The students those who are going to the first year of the MBBS academic program are eligible to apply for the KVPY aptitude test for medicine. Candidates those who have passed the 12th grade examination with at least 75% aggregate marks are eligible to take the test. The MBBS students those who have passed first year of their academics with a minimum of 60% marks are considered for the test.

How to Apply?

Different application forms are available for each stream. Candidates can obtain the application forms through online as well as offline method. The aspirants those who are not able to apply online can apply through post. The aspirants those are unable to apply online are advised to send a request to any of the KVPY centers in order to obtain a hard copy of the application form. The payment of the hard copy of the application forms have to be remitted at any of the core branches of State Bank of India. The pay slip has to be sent along with the request and the stream must be clearly written on the envelope.
