How to join Ph.D in MG University?

MG (Mahatma Gandhi) University offers Ph.D programs in a variety of subjects like International Relations, Anthropology, Bio-sciences, Computer Science, Electronics and Management Studies. PG holder in the respective subject with a minimum of 55% marks can apply. Admission to the course is done on the basis of research aptitude test and interview. Marks obtained in qualifying master’s degree are also counted for admission. Those with specific qualifications like MD (Medicine), Master of Philosophy (all disciplines) or NET/SLET/GATE/GPAT are exempted from attending the research aptitude test. They can join the course directly after interview.

Eligibility for Ph.D in MG University

Post graduate degree obtained either from MG University or any other recognized University is the basic qualification required. Also an eligible candidate must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in the PG level examination. Those belonging to SC/ST category are required to qualify PG examination with at least 50% marks only.

Candidates who have qualified medical courses like BHMS, MBBS, BAMS and BDS with not less than 50% marks are eligible to register for Ph.D program. Other than this, CA qualified professionals who got membership either with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or by the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India can also apply.

Selection Procedure for Ph.D in MG University

Marks obtained by the candidate in three stages are considered for admission.

  • Marks obtained in the qualifying examination
  • Marks obtained in the written aptitude test
  • Marks obtained in interview

Research aptitude test is conducted by the concerned department of the University that offers the Ph.D program. Those who can score above 50% marks in the qualifying examination will be considered for interview.

Exemptions from Written Test

Those candidates with some specific qualifications are exempted from attending the aptitude test. They can join the course directly after interview. Following is the list of such special qualifications.

  • Master of Philosophy and Master of Technology (all disciplines)
  • MD (Medicine)
  • MS (Medicine)
  • NET/SLET/GATE/GPAT qualified candidates
  • Scientist in any recognized Research and Development companies
  • Teachers from Government/Aided Colleges (must be affiliated either to MG University or any other recognized Indian University)
  • Valid certificate holders in the Research Aptitude Test conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University

Application forms can be collected from the website/administrative office of MG University. Filled up applications forms must reach the concerned department before dead line date mentioned. After scrutinizing the received applications, candidates with specified eligibility will be called for attending research aptitude test.
