B.E Computer Science and Engineering Lateral Entry Admissions in Anna University
Diploma holders in engineering field can apply for the Bachelor of Engineering or Technology course in Computer Science and Engineering. There is a scheme called Lateral Entry Scheme through which such candidates can join the second year Bachelor of Engineering or Technology course in Computer Science and Engineering. Candidates who join this course in any Engineering college through this scheme should qualify the State Level Entrance Exams. Such candidates should also go through the admission procedures specified by Anna University.
Eligibility for B.E Computer Science and Engineering Lateral Entry in Anna University
Candidates who are applying for Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering through Lateral Entry Scheme should possess sixty percentage marks in the diploma course. They should obtain their diploma from State Board of Technical Education and Training or any recognized Institution. Candidates belong to SC/ST category need only fifty five percentage marks in diploma course to become eligible apply for Lateral Entry Admission. Â Students who are appearing for their final year exam can also apply for Lateral Entry Admission.
Reservation for Lateral Entry in Anna University
Out of the total seats available for Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering course in the recognized engineering colleges, 1/6 of the seats will be allotted for the students who seek admission through Lateral Entry Scheme. Eighty five percent of those Lateral Entry seats will be allotted as the merit seats of Government of India. The remaining fifteen percent seats will be filled by students who seek admission through Management quota. Forty percent reservation will be given for the candidates belong to SEBC, OBC, PWD and SC/ST category.
Applying for B.E Computer Science and Engineering Lateral Entry in Anna University
Candidates who seek admission through Lateral Entry Scheme should qualify in the State Level Entrance Exam conducted for the admission to Engineering courses. Duration of this exam will be for two hours. Question paper of this exam will include the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates can follow the syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class XI and XII of the State Board, ICSE or CBSE for this exam. Applicants can obtain the application forms of Lateral Entry Admissions from the Anna University.

Candidates who seek admission through lateral entry scheme can save one year as they are directly joining the second year of the engineering course. They can perform well in the lab exams, as they have previous experience in the labs specified in the syllabus of engineering course during their diploma.
