M.Sc in Food Technology course and admission procedure
Master of Science in Food Technology is a two year post graduate course. M.Sc in Food Technology course contains four papers. The following are some of the Universities/institutes where M.Sc in Food Technology course is offered:

- Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology
- University of Calcutta
- University of Madras
The course equips a graduate to handle aspects of food processing and various methodologies involved. Aspirants can seek a career in food based industries after the completion of this course. Opportunities are available in various public and private sector companies that deal with food processing, research, preservation, etc.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for M.Sc in Food Technology should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at the 10+2 level.
A Bachelor’s degree in Science is another prerequisite to apply for the course. Candidates should have studied Chemistry or Biochemistry as subjects at the graduation level. Bachelor of Science graduates should secure minimum 55% marks for applying to this course.
Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Technology/ Engineering are also eligible to apply.
Admission Procedure
Admission to the Master of Science in Food Processing is based on entrance examinations conducted by the respective universities or institutes. The marks secured in the qualifying examination will also be taken into consideration. The admission procedure as per the guidelines of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) is as follows:
Application forms can be downloaded from the CFTRI official website. Candidates also have the option of directly applying online. The prospectus can be downloaded from the CFTRI web portal.
Admission will be based on an entrance test. CFTRI is responsible for conducting such exams. Candidates should remit an application fee of Rs 500. The application fee should be drawn in favour of Director, CFTRI, Mysore.
Those candidates who are applying through the online method should include the demand draft number in the application form. Candidates also have the option to send the application form along with the demand draft to the specified address.
All intimations concerning examination pattern, admit card, syllabus, date and center of examination can be accessed online. After the entrance examination, the results can also be obtained from the CFTRI official website.
