Pondicherry Engineering College affiliated to Pondicherry University, offers admission to B.Tech course through regular/lateral entry scheme. Admission through lateral entry scheme is carried out on the basis of candidate’s performance in entrance test and personal interview conducted. Diploma holders in respective subjects and science graduates with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the course. Candidates can expect objective type questions in the entrance exam.

Eligibility Criterion for B.Tech Lateral Entry in Pondicherry Engineering College

Candidates who have completed three year diploma course in Engineering / Technology from a recognized board of studies are eligible to apply for this course. Apart from this those who have completed graduation in science subjects are also eligible to apply. Such candidates should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects in their higher secondary course. Candidates are required to secure at least 45% marks in aggregate in qualifying exam, so as to be eligible. Those who belong to reserved categories can avail relaxation of 5% marks in terms of qualification as per the norms issued by the University. Upper age limit for eligibility is 24 years at the time of admission. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Cast can claim age relaxation up to 3 years.

Admission Procedure for B.Tech Lateral Entry in Pondicherry Engineering College

Admission to the course is carried out on the basis of performance in the Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET) and viva voce conducted by the University. Candidates who have cleared the entrance test will be shortlisted for personal interview/ viva voce. Final selection will be based on the scores obtained in entrance test, personal interview and submission of relevant documents. Admission to the candidates who have scored equal marks in entrance test and personal interview will be based on the marks obtained in degree/ diploma examination.

Exam Pattern of Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET)

There will be objective type questions in the entrance exam. Questions will be asked from the topics prescribed for diploma courses by State Board of Technical Education Tamil Nadu. There will be a maximum of 120 questions which have to be answered within one and half hours. Each question carries 4 marks. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. Science graduate students can expect questions on General Knowledge, Numerical Ability in under graduate level.
