Admission Process for Under Graduate Courses in AMET University
AMET University offers under graduate courses in subjects like Nautical Science, Petroleum Engineering, Shipping and Harbour Engineering & Ocean Engineering. Generally 12th passed students with an aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can seek admission to most of the courses. Admission will be done after written test, personnel interview and medical examination.

Admission Process for Under Graduate Courses in AMET University
Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science
Plus-two (HSC) passed students can apply for the three year course of B.Sc in Nautical Science. HSC must be completed with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects and an aggregate score of 60% marks (or above) in these subjects. Such students must have obtained at least 50% marks in English. Age of the eligible candidate must be less than 25 years and they must be physically fit also. Selection is done on the basis of written test, personnel interview and medical examination.
Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering
Eligibility requirements are mostly the same as that of B.Sc in Nautical Science. The only difference is that, HSC course must be completed with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 55% marks in English. Here also, selection is done after evaluating candidate’s performance in written test, medical test and personnel interview. Preference will be given to those with a valid AIEEE/IIT JEE score.
B.E in Marine Engineering, B.E in Petroleum Engineering & B.E in Harbour Engineering & Ocean Engineering
Eligibility requirements and selection procedure are same as that for B.Sc in Nautical Science.
But for these courses, lateral entry admissions are also possible. Diploma holders in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks and with good communication skills can seek admission for B.E in Marine Engineering.
Those with sound computer skills and language skills can apply for lateral entry admissions in B.E in Petroleum Engineering. Such candidates must have obtained any of the following qualifications with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Bachelor of Science in Geology
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering
Diploma holders in Civil Engineering can go with B.E in Harbour Engineering & Ocean Engineering.
Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Electrical & Electronics Engineering
HSC passed students with at least 60% (aggregate) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply. Age of the candidate must be less than 25 years. Screening process is done through written test, personnel interview and medical examination.
Candidates with at least 60% marks in any of the following qualifications can seek admission through lateral entry.
- Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Diploma in Electronic & Instrumentation
- Diploma in Electronics a& Communication Engineering
- Diploma in Instrumentation & Control
Bachelor of Business Management in Shipping
Pass in 12th class with 50% marks is the qualification required. Admission test conducted for selection comprise questions to measure the English proficiency of the candidate. Those who score below 50% marks in the test will be provided with special classes to bridge the communication gap.
Other than the courses mentioned above the University also offer Bachelor of Engineering in Ship Building & Conversion Technologies, which is pending for UGC approval.
