  • Animal Science
  • Agriculture

It is compulsory for M.Sc applicants to study subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Agriculture at graduate level.

For Chemistry discipline – A post graduate degree in Chemistry with at least 60% marks is essential to apply for this discipline. M.Sc graduates need to opt Physics as an optional subject at B.Sc level as well.

For Engineering discipline – To apply for Scientist/Engineer position in this discipline, candidates must essentially complete either B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc (engineering) in any of the below mentioned streams –

  • Metallurgical engineering
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Instrumentation engineering
  • Electronics and Controls engineering
  • Electronics & Communication engineering
  • Electronics engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Computer engineering
  • Civil engineering
  • Chemical engineering

For Geology discipline – Candidates must complete M.Sc degree in Geology or Applied Geology by opting mathematics as a subject at B.Sc level. A minimum of 60% marks is also necessary to apply for this discipline.

For Geophysics discipline – A minimum qualification of M.Sc degree in either of the streams like Geo physics or Applied Geophysics is essential to apply. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks in both B.Sc and M.Sc level to apply for the same.

For Physics discipline – A graduate degree in engineering physics is the necessary qualification required to apply. M.Sc graduates in streams like Electronics, Physics and Applied Physics also eligible to apply. It is compulsory to attain a minimum of 60% marks at both graduate and post graduate level.

For Radiological safety engineering – Eligible candidates must have completed M.Sc qualification in subject streams like Physics and Chemistry. The qualification must be obtained by scoring a minimum of 60% marks. Integrated B.Sc-M.Sc holders are considered for this discipline provided they study mathematics as a subject either at B.Sc or M.Sc level.

For all the disciplines, candidates will also be considered on the basis of GATE score. Therefore, it is compulsory for candidates to obtain a valid GATE score in the specific engineering or qualifying degree discipline.
