Details of B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering Course

B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering is a four year course. The course is spread over a total of eight semesters. Each semester contains theory and practical papers. The theory part will include subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering. Subject specific areas like Materials Science, Manufacturing Technology, Fluid mechanics, Aerodynamics, Propulsion etc is also included in the syllabus. The practical paper includes subjects like Aerodynamics Laboratory, Manufacturing and Assembly Drawing, Fluid Dynamics Laboratory etc.

The total credits required to be completed by the students is 176. There will also be an industrial visit as part of the course. This is compulsory for all the students. Students are also required to undertake a project in the final semester.

Candidates who have completed the 10+2 level or an equivalent from a recognized board with physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the main subjects are eligible to apply for the B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering course.

Advantages of B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering Course

Graduates can seek a career in various sectors with a good salary package. Aspirants can work in a number of capacities like Scientist, Researcher, Design Engineer, Specialist officer, Production manager, Systems engineer, Assistant Aircraft Engineer etc. Interested candidates can seek employment in educational institutions and colleges as faculty members.

In the public sector organizations like Indian Coast Guard, Civil Aviation Department, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), etc offer employment avenues for B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering graduates. Graduates can work as Assistant Commandant in Indian Coast Guard which offers a pay pack of Rs. 5,400 per month. The pay scale for a job as Assistant Director (Aircraft Engineering) under Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation is between Rs.15, 600 and Rs. 39,100 per month. For the post of Scientist/ Researcher, the pay scale is around Rs.16, 000 to Rs.40, 000 per month.

Graduates can also seek employment in organizations like Defense Research and Development Laboratories, National Aeronautical Lab (NAL), Helicopter Corporation of India, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), etc. Various private companies involved in aircraft manufacturing and airline services recruit B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering graduates. Private organizations like Silver Atena Electronic Systems Private Ltd, Safran Engineering Services India Pvt. Ltd, Goodrich Aerospace Services Pvt. Ltd, Infotech Enterprises Ltd, etc offer career avenues for these graduates. Graduates can expect an annual remuneration of around Rs. 2 lacs. The remuneration can vary according to the establishment and job profile. Aspirants also have the option of undertaking research in related fields.

There is much scope for graduates with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering abroad. A number of Research based organizations and aircraft manufacturing industries and organizations like National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) employ Aeronautical Engineering graduates.
