The lateral entry in B.Tech is for the students who wish to join engineering courses after their Diploma in related subjects. The admission procedure is based on the entrance test conducted by the State or by the Universities. Many universities in India offers lateral entry programmes in engineering courses.

MRIU also offers lateral entry programmes in various engineering courses. The diploma holders can directly join from the second year of the B.Tech courses. The admission of the students in this university is based on the entrance test carried out by them.

Eligibility for B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in MRIU

Those who have successfully completed their Diploma in any stream can join for B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering. The minimum percentage scored in Diploma should not be less than 60%. It should be obtained from any recognized institutions under the Government of Haryana or equivalent.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in MRIU

There is no reservation criteria mentioned for the lateral entry students in MRIU. The aspirants will get admission on the basis of their MR-NAT score. The candidates should also possess the entire eligibility criterion. However 15% of the seats are reserved for the foreign students.

Applying for B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in MRIU

The University organizes MR-NAT for the Diploma holders for their admission in B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering. The test is carried out in various disciplines according to the candidate’s branch of study. A merit list is prepared based on the rank obtained by the students in the examination. The first preference for admission is to the students from MR-NAT merit list. And the second preference is to those from the merit list prepared on the basis of qualifying examinations. The application form for the examination can be procured from the university office. It should be submitted in the University along with necessary documents of proof.

One of the main advantages for the aspirants who got admission through Lateral entry is that they can directly join to the second year in B.Tech. The syllabus in the first year of B.tech is already covered in their diploma studies so they need not revise it. Thus they can save a year. The fundamentals of the related subjects will be covered in the diploma, so it will be easier for them to understand. Those who have completed their diploma will find the practical classes easier in B.Tech compared to the regular students.
