The various Engineering colleges under the Department of Technical Education, Haryana provides lateral entry seats to the diploma holders to enable them pursue an engineering degree within 3 years after the diploma course. The main purpose of the lateral entry scheme is to make possible the diploma holders to achieve a B.Tech graduate degree within 3 years after the completion of the diploma course and also to attract the 10+2 science students to the diploma courses. The candidates interested in acquiring the lateral entry seat in any of the engineering colleges in Haryana must have required educational qualification as prescribed by the University and also should clear the OLET (LEET) exam conducted by the Haryana state technical education department.

Eligibility for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Lateral Entry in Department of Technical Education, Haryana

Candidates who have passed their diploma in Electronics and Communication or allied field fields and who fulfill all the conditions for admission are eligible to apply for the lateral entry test. Candidates appearing for the final year diploma can also apply after making sure that they will be able to submit the certificates at the time of admission. However there will be a relaxation in age and marks for the backward caste candidates.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Department of Technical Education, Haryana

There will be a 25% reservation in all categories for the girls. In the total lateral entry seats provided 50% reserved for the ITI passed candidates. 25% seats are reserved for those who did their higher secondary education in any vocation higher secondary school. 25% seats are reserved for the students who have done their 10+2 with compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Applying for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Lateral Entry in Department of Technical Education, Haryana

The students interested in joining B.Tech in the Department of Technical Education of Haryana should attend for the online entrance test OLET-LEET. For attending the exam, one has to register and pay the fees for the exam. The candidate has to pay fees of Rs.500 in favor of Haryana State Counselling Society. The registration form is available in the official site www.hscs.org through which the candidate has to register for the exam.

The lateral entry students have many advantages when choosing B.Tech. In lateral entry scheme, the students need only attend from second year class of B.Tech. They are not required to attend the first year (first and second semester) class again. Since they have completed their 3 year diploma course in the same discipline; they will have a thorough basic knowledge about the subject. It makes them easier to handle the subjects in engineering. They also will be able to perform much better than other students in practical classes also due to their experience in the same field during the diploma course. The lateral entry students within a short span of time can pursue the graduate degree and hence can acquire a good career in the engineering field.
