Changing Indian social strata demands thrust on education quality
The Indian social class is mainly divided into three- lower, middle and upper group, each having lots of sub divisions too. The people in these divisions show a common propensity to move towards the next class. The majority of the Indian population constitutes the middle class. A number of reasons contribute to this fact, the major one being a booming Indian Economy. This has led to the improvement in the lifestyle of the citizen and thereby adding more families in the middle class sector.
The increasing number of middle class has begun to influence the education sector. The people belonging to this social division show an irresistible emphasis to education in their life. They need skills and knowledge and want to be competent so as to endure and succeed in the society. In the national scenario the education enjoys an unusual status and in the ancient times the learning and the power of knowledge was a monopoly of upper social class like Brahmins and only the privileged superior group could have access to knowledge.
But this idea faded in the contemporary age and education becomes a necessary commodity for having a career and a life in India. As the Indian population continue to break all records, the call for quality education reaches its heights. Even the initiations from the Government are on its way, the needed and necessary development is lacking in this sector.
Investments- A way to create opportunities…
The Government as well as the ever increasing population are ready to invest in education service. We can sense that there is gap between the demand and supply in education and private sector sense this as an opportunity to do business. Small and medium sized tuition-oriented organizations blossomed in the private sector and many of them have a success story in this operation. The private participation can be seen in all most all fields of education. Even the Government monitors the operation in this sector through the rules and regulations; the private sector is on growth phase.
The Corporate sector is also investing highly on the education side. They need to have competent and talented people to meet the industry requirements. They need people with good organizational, intellectuals as well as the emotional skills and this made them to put money in the training and coaching fields. HDFC recently made an investment in Career Launcher, an institution operating in the coaching field. As a whole the Education sector goes in a partially balanced way because of these private and corporate participations.
The Big Companies and other investors are spending their money in the education sector not only beneficial to the nation and the aspirants but also to the large group called the trainers or teachers. These investments create a lot of job opportunities for the people in this profession. The increasing demand for the professional courses in the current scenario creates greater competition in the entrance exams. Everybody needs to crack these exams. Medical and Engineering, MBA, ICS, Law etc. are some of these exam.
Now the situation seems to be like, to score high in these tests it is necessary to take coaching from the prominent institutions. There are numerous institutes, known and unknown, functioning in this field and it also caters a greater break for the teaching aspirants. Many private schools are deemed universities are emerging in the educational sector demands good teachers. The Corporate giants TATA, Reliance, Zee etc. are providing intense fund to the education sector so as to create the right talents in the nation. These efforts also support the job opportunity for the teachers.
Teaching, The Profession…
Teaching is a profession which once received a greater reputation from the society. But latterly the Executive and the New Generation jobs take the platform and now the younger generation hardly chooses this profession. But today’s environment terribly needs the qualified professional in this sector the longing for excellent teachers augmented exponentially.
The data shows that the premier institutes pay Rs. 2000/- for the professionals and the Professors are drawing lucrative salary. The Government Pay Commission offers attractive package for the teachers so as to attract the younger generation into this field. The Government Schools and Colleges cover high salary irrespective of the location. A school teacher job in India paid average Rs. 1.2-3lakhs/annum and there are several factors contributing in this pay like the institute working for, place, expertise and experience.
To work with any school a graduate need to have the B. Ed degree. The higher qualification like Masters Degree and PhD enable you to move further in this profession. The NET or SET eligibilities will be added qualifications in the profile and the national eligibility qualification enables one to work with the Colleges/Universities. One can work with the private tuition centers while doing the college and the experience fetch lot in the career. One can also avail to the opportunity of the online teachers and there is a new job area in developing material for the online courses.
The education sector is currently identified as an unorganized sector which can absorb large quantity of investments. In India foreign universities also come forward for investment and this is expected to change the face of the teaching profession and the professional will get a more global exposure. It is expected that within a couple of years billons of fund is going to flow in the sector. This will ultimately create huge vacancies in the teaching and non-teaching profession.
The Teaching profession is a good platform for the people who possess rhythm in communication, little patience and also likes being with people. This is a field where you can help people in developing the ideas and knowledge. You can influence a lot of young minds and can be a model for the next generation. You can ensure that there are followers who are looking at you to guide and nurture.
