College of Applied Science came into existence in the year 1993 and the college is managed by the Institute of Human Resource Development of the Government of Kerala. The college awards degrees from University of Calicut. The institute offers M. Sc Electronics course, which is the first of its kind under the Calicut University. The college also holds the pride of having introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Audio Engineering, which is the first of its kind in the state of Kerala and fourth of its kind in the whole nation.

Eligibility requirement:

For each of the aforesaid courses the following corresponding eligibility criteria must be met by the candidates to seek admission:

• Bachelor of Science  - Higher secondary or its equivalent examination with electronics or mathematics subjects both for computer science and electronics courses

• Bachelor of Commerce with Computer Applications – Higher secondary or its equivalent examination with commerce

• Master of Science in Electronics: Bachelor of Science in instrumentation/computer science/physics/electronics with not less than 50% of marks

• Master of Science in Computer Science: Bachelor of Computer Applications or Bachelor of Science with statistics or mathematics as main or subsidiary subject or B. Sc IT with not less than 50% of marks

• Master of Computer Applications: Any degree with mathematics either at higher secondary or at degree level

• Post Graduate Diploma in Audio Engineering: Valid degree in any subject with affinity for music

Admission Procedure:

For UG courses offered by the College of Applied Science, admission is done based on the marks secured by the candidates in the optional subjects at the higher secondary level. For M. Sc courses, admission is done on the basis of single window online system by the university of Calicut. For MCA course, available seats under both free and payment category are filled by the entrance commissioner of the government of Kerala on the basis of the rank obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. When it comes to admission procedure for Post Graduate Diploma in Audio Engineering course, admission is done based on the qualifying marks, written test (if needed) and interview.

Placement Cell:

Placement Cell is functioning is an integral part of the institution and efforts are being made by the cell to organize training activities for preparing the prospective students for the campus interview. The cell offers instantaneous data to the corporate sector with respect to the availability of candidates for consideration towards placement according to their requirements.
