Details about Assam Joint Admission Test – JAT MBBS

Directorate of Higher Education (Assam) conduct Assam Joint Admission Test (MBBS) every year for the intake of eligible candidates to the MBBS course. This is held for the candidates who have completed their intermediate course without any backlogs. Both objective and subjective type questions will be asked in this MBBS entrance examination. Candidates can apply for this exam by procuring application form from the centres specified by Directorate of Higher Education. Application fee will be specified in the notification published before the exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Age of the candidates who are applying for JAT MBBS entrance examination should not be less than 17 years. Also the candidates need to pass their higher secondary examination held by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or any examination equivalent to it in first attempt. They should also have obtained minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC and 40% for ST candidates) while calculating the average of total marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

There are two papers for this MBBS entrance examination having duration of 3 hours. First paper consists of total 200 questions which are distributed equally among Physics and Chemistry. Second paper comprises of 100 questions from Biology. As there is no negative marking, candidates can attempt each question without worrying about losing marks. Application Procedure

Candidates can procure the application form for JAT MBBS from any of the technical universities specified by the Directorate of Higher Education in Assam. In that case, the applicants are required to pay the specified application fee for JAT in cash. Those who want to collect the forms through post should send a demand draft of specified application fee taken in the name of Director of Technical Education. It is necessary to send a self addressed envelope along with the demand draft. Applicants are required to send the duly filled form to the Directorate of Higher Education in Guwahati.
