Profile:

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was intially established as the Federal Public Service Commission on October 1, 1926. The commission was established under the Government of India Act 1935. Later under the Government of India Act 1935, the formation of the Public Service Commissions at the Provincial level was also made as a provision. Federal Public Service Commission was later changed into an autonomous entity named Union Public Service Commission on January 26, 1950.

Job Profile:

Union Public Service Commission is going to hold the Engineering Service Examination, 2011 which is to be commencing from 14 May 2011. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Eligibility:

Age of the candidates should not be less than 21 years and not more than 30 years on August 1, 2011. However, the upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes to some extent. Also candidates should be physicall fit accoridng to the physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Examination, 2011 as per Rules and Regulations of the Examination.

Educational Qualification:

A candidates must hold a Degree in Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university of India. Candidates who applying for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) and Engineer Group ‘A’ in Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing/Monitoring Organisation, must possess M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication. Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

Application Fee:

Candidates who wants to apply online are required to pay a fee of Rs. 50 only. They can submit this fee in any branch of State Bank of India in cash or they can use the net banking facility of SBI for submitting this application fee. Candidates who are going to apply offline or by post, should pay the application fee of Rs. 100 through the means of a Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. Only SC/ST/PH or Female candidates are exempted from the payment of fees.

Selection Process:

The recruitment of the candidates will be made by the conduct of a written examination at various centres across the country. Candidates who qualify on the basis of the results of the written examination will be callled for personality test.

How to apply: Candidates are required to apply online only at the UPSC website (Only candidates residing in certain areas specified at UPSC website, are allowed to apply offline or through post). Instructions for filling up the online applications are available at the website. No hardcopy of the complete application form is need to be sent by the candidates submitting online applications. All offline applications from the candidates belnging to specified remote areas, should be mailed (by post or speed post only) to the address:
