IAS - Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer one has to crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.
The age limit for IAS for General Category candidate is from 21 to 30 years which the upper age is relaxed for reserved candidate. To become an IAS Officer you have to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exam(CSE). UPSC CSE is conducted every year for aspiring candidates to fill a total of 24services/posts. Eligibility For CSE : Age Limit : General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam OBC-21-33yrs SC/ST-21-35yrs Since your age is 31yrs and you belong to general category,very sorry to inform you that you are not eligible to appear in UPSC CSE. Infact female candidates are encouraged to apply to CSE by UPSC,they are exempted from any fee payment. Educational Qualification : Minimum educational qualification to appear in the CSE is, Graduation Degree or Equivalent in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognised University.Percentage is not a criteria to apply. this is sorry to inform you that you cannot apply for the IAS exam as you have overcome the maximum age limit. Because for the general category, the maximum age for giving the exam is 30 years of age and a maximum of 4 attempts is given to the general category candidate. The criteria for obc category is 21-33 years of age and 7 attempts. For sc/st students, 21-35 years of age and there is no limit for the number of attempts.
