After doing B.Sc general degree course, you can't join Phd directly.

You have to first pass the Master's course in any particular subject.

Then you can go for further study doing Phd on that particular subject area.

You must have good percentile record in M.Sc ,only then you can apply for the Phd program.

after ug you have to first complete your pg i.e MSc in the honours subject of your BSc; only after getting a POST GRADUATE degree will you be eligible for a Phd or post doctrate studies!

Following are the requirements for the Ph D Degree:

• Master’s comprehensive/PhD preliminary exam (also the master’s final oral examination of thesis for students whose programs require the MS degree)
• PhD comprehensive exam
• Admission to candidacy for doctoral cegree
• Final oral examination
• Approval of dissertation
• A minimum of 72 graduate credits (including up to 36 credits earned elsewhere - see Arts and Sciences Graduate Bulletin for details)
• A minimum GPA of 3.0
• All incomplete grades must be changed to a letter grade or S/N
• Departmental teaching requirement

You can join the Ph.D. After complete the master Degree.

Eligibility:

You are complete the master degree or post graduation from any recognized university.

There is no age limit is required.

You are selected the special subject in Ph.D. And do the Doctorate in that special subject.

What subject or what topic to do the Ph.D. Then you work hard for the subject.

For doing Ph.D, the required qualification is completing Post Graduation in the stream you wish to pursue.

If you complete PG successfully, then you are eligible for applying Ph.D.

some Universities/Colleges conduct Entrance exam but some dont

If you wish to do Ph.D from reputed University, without cracking Entrance, then one alternative is to do M.Phil( Master of Philosophy) - 2 years
for which No entrance is required, but you have to submit a Thesis of your choice. Based on Viva, and your thesis, you will be awarded M.Phil.

Then you are free to join Ph.D.
