dear friend,
See, the time is not a factor.. The main thing is how much preparation you have for the exam.. So, you can start your preparation for GATE exam after completion of B.tech.. To crack the exam you must have good technical knowledge.. Also you should have a clear concept in your technical subjects.. So, start your preparation from now onwards.. Try to clear all your doubts regarding your technical subjects.. Solve previous year questions to get an Idea of the exam pattern and question type... Study throughly the text books, also you may follow some reference books to gather more knowledge.. beside this you have to solve aptitude questions.. For that you have to do lots of practice...By doing practice you will be able to solve aptitude questions as quick as possible.. You can also join some coaching classes.. They will take mock tests , by which you will get confidence, also they provide you study material.. So, go for it.. All the best. |

I think at least 3 to 4 months preparation is enough for GATE exam .At lest 3 weeks before the exam revise the important topics and try to give some practice tests .Those will give you an idea of your preparation level then fill up the gaps with extra study .
Thank you |

Hi dear..
As you also know for any exam earlier preparation must be required if you want to score best in that particular exam. Since GATE is one of the exam in which you need attention at the starting of your graduation. But don't worry you are not to late . If you are well in your academics and all the concepts are clear to you then you are not too late for this exam. Just do one thing devote your time more on this so that you can recover your time easily. GOOD LUCK.. Thank you |

alright,
GATE is not really known to be a the tough exam. it is an exam that is a direct application of what you have studied. definitely, you dont need to start preparing from the 3rd year ( if you know the basics ).. usually you need around 3 months time to prepare it. ( thats what we say here in the NIT ).. Still, you have plenty of time left to start studying. Start right from this moment. Also they have extended the date for sending the GATE application.. i.e you can send the application even now. send it fast and start preparing .. All The Best !!!! ....

well, here in NIT ( my college) we say that we need to start preparing for GATE from December of that academic year. that is around a time of 3 months is required,
but all that depends upon your basic understanding of the subject, and also your skills in learning. you need good materials for that and the right strategy. PREPARATION :- You can either prepare for the exam yourself, or approach a coaching institute. REPUTED COACHING INSTITUTES ARE: 1.ACE ACADEMY, Hyderabad. 2. P.C THOMAS CLASSES,Thrissur. If you are preparing yourself, some of the good books that will help you are 1.MADE EASY Publication 2.Khanna publication. 3. G.K Publishers ( contains a little bit of mistakes). I guess this would be sufficient. and once you start your preparation, hang onto it. try your level best. atleast 3 months preparation would be necessary. All The Best !!!...

You will not get the time back so there is no need to bother about that.It is true that you would have got benefit if you had prepared from your 3rd year but it is not too late and you can still prepare and secure a good rank next year.So there is no need to panic just prepare best for the exam.As you have already applied for postal preparation then relax and prepare.Follow the guidelines you get from the institute.. Best Wishes.... |

GATE is an exam which asks your knowledge that you have acquired in your graduation. So if you see it like this , you have 4 full years or 3 full years for your preparation.
Now its very good that you have applied for a study material. I don't consider anything late. Whenever you want, you decide things for yourself. So as of now, you have decided to give GATE. I would suggest, one year when you have it already give it fully to the preparation, and come out in your GATE exam with flying and soaring colours. If you get into any one of the IIT's, that itself would give you a good brand! So start preparing from right now, and be determined to excel in this one year. Achieve your goal, and this one year would get lost in the story of your success. All the Best. |

Suggestion and Preparation tips recommended by Topper’s for GATE GATE is an exam that tests you on your fundamentals. The questions are generally derivations of the fundamentals GATE paper has a huge syllabus, so it is almost impossible to cover the whole syllabus thoroughly. So one should concentrate on important subjects like to get good score on gate exam you should prepared 4 to 5 subject perfectly . as most of question came on gate are form circuit theory ,control system, math, analog digital communication so if you prepare these subjects confidently you should get a good gate score solve previous year's test papers. which gives you a fair idea of what the actual paper would be like. It also brushes up your basics and exposes your 'areas of improvement'. Analyzing your test results is a very important part of taking the test. If you do not analyze, the test does not add value. You should minutely analyze and define as to where you could have scored more; analyze your accuracy rates in various topics and maintain a topic wise datasheet which lists your performance topic wise for different test papers. So one should concentrate on important subject. Follow & remember these things seriously, I assure you definitely Beat GATE Exam "Don’t hesitate to drop a comment if you have any question or would like to share some more information" Good Luck!!!! Hi nitin! I'm jyothi. Its not required to start ur prep. For gate right 4m ur 3rd yr but wat matters is ur consistent preparation. U said that u've ordered for a postal study course fine then u just need to make a time table which includes priority given to subjects in which u've interest, wat materials to be gathered,hw much time to be spent on prep. Per day (as preparing for subject and practicing previous questions),text books to be followed. If u r an avg student then i suggest u to prepare for atleast 8 subjects til the exam then undoubtly u wil crack gate. wish u good luck. Have wonderful preparation.

Hi
GATE exam has the syllabus same as that of the all Engineering subjects. If you are final year student then you already studied all the subjects. SO only you just revision of these subjects. Daily you spend 2 to 3 hrs time and cover all the subjects. If you are well in the basic subjects it will helpsto get minimum of 20 to25 marks . all the best regards arun |
