i want to know exact age limit for entrec exam ugc net. and any age relaxation is avabilable for girls?

UGC-NET is of two types:

one is for Junior Research Fellowship(JRF)

and the other is for Lectureship...

For JRF, the candidate should not be more than 28 years.

*Relaxation of 5 years is there for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH candidates.
*Relaxation of 5 years is there for those who has a research experience in the subject related to their post graduation.
*Relaxation of 3 years is there for those who possesses LL.M. Degree

And for Lectureship, there is no upper age limit.

So that was the exact age limit for UGC NET and there is no other age relaxation for girls.

NET (National Eligiblity Test) Examination was conducted by UGC Every Year and to apply for this examination, your Must have completed your Post graduation course with minimum 55% marks.

NET Examination was conducted to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) And there is no minimum age eligibility criteria to apply for Lectureship.

But for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) Your age should not be More then 28 years. The Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Women Applicants and Other Reserved Category Candidates. All these candidates will gets 5 Year age Relaxation.

Three years age relaxation will be applicable to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.

So, If you have completed your post Graduation with minimum 55% marks, then you are eligible to apply for UGC NET Examination, The June Examination was already completed and If you are Interested to apply for this examination, then please apply for UGC December NET Examination and For more Information please check the official website -

AGE LIMIT & RELAXATION FOR UGC NET EXAM IS AS FOLLOWS :

I don't think girls have any relaxation in age

i) Junior Research Fellowship:
Not more than 28 years as on 01.06 of the year of examination. A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

ii) Lectureship:
There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

NET Examination was conducted by UGC twice in a year.

For NET examination only for Master degree candidates.

Age limits For National Eligibility Test :-

Lecture Ship :- There is no upper age limits.

National Eligibility Test is entrance exam in India for postgraduate candidates for admission in Ph.D research, university level teaching jobs in India.it is conducted by UGC(University Grants commission)

The age eligibility for junior research fellowship: candidate should be less than 28 years.
Relaxation of 5years is available to girls.Also SC/ST/PH candidates have this age relaxation.

there is no extra age relaxation for girls. the eligibility criteria is applicable for mens and womens.

eligibility criteria for NET*
M.Sc or equivalent degree under the subjects mentioned above, with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates*
and 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D.*

Age Eligibility:
For Juniour resaerch fellowship: 19 to 28 years
For lecturership: There is no upper age limit.Minimum age is 19 years.
