Im studying engineering in computer science i have got back in one subject.am i eligible for appearing IAS or not?

## As you have one backlog subject in your B.TECH,it is sorry to say that,you are not eligible to apply for IAS examination
## Age limit to apply for IAS examination is

~>7 times for OBC candidates

IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service Examination .IAS is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year .IAS recruitment is organized by Civil Service Exam .

If you have completed Graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IAS exam.There is no marks criteria.Final year student are applicable for IAS Exam.

If you have pending backlog then you are not applicable for IAS exam so first clered your pending backlog then you are applicable for IAS exam .

Age criteria for IAS exam for general candidate is 21 to 30 years old.Age Relaxation for OBC candidate is 3 years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum no of attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Selection Process for IAS exam :-

Stage I:- Preliminary Examination
Stage II:- Main Examination
Stage III:- Interview

For apply IAS exam the minimum Education qualification is Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC under Civil Services exam.

Eligibility criteria:-

Candidate should be an Indian citizen.

Candidate should be completed Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University.

Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates.

Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years

And SC/ST category candidates 5 years.


Number of Attempts:-

General category candidates - 4 time

OBC category Candidates - 7 time

SC/ST category candidates - No limit.

To become an IAS Officer you have to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams

Minimum eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil Services exams is:

Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university
No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation

Age- Minimum 21 years
Maximum 30 years
OBC can apply till 33 years
SC/ST can apply till 35 years

Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts
General- 4 times
OBC-7 times
SC/ST-No Restrictions

UPSC Civil Services Exams are held in three stages:
Prelims
MAINS
Interview

Next prelims exams would be held in 24th August 2014
Notification will come out on 17th May 2014

You can appear for the Indian Adminstrative Service. However you will be required to clear backlog. If you manages to clear the backlog then there will be no issue in applying for the Civil Services Examination.

You will not be allowed to appear for Civil Services Examination till the time you have cleared the backlog. After clearing it you can start the preparations for the Civil Services Examination.

As far as your degree is concerned, Bachelor of Technology degree holders are eligible for the Civil Services Examination regardless of the branch you have taken. It could be Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical or any other.

The requirement for Civil Services Examination for Indian Administrative Service is Bachelor's degree. Bachelor of Technology fulfills this requirement.


IAS Eligibility

1. The exam can be appeared by Indian citizens.

5. Upper age limit is 30 years for General candidates.

With the backlog you're not ineligible to apply for IAS Entrance Examination. You have to Clear the backlog in order to participate in IAS Entrance Examination.

So,If you got pass mark in backlog subject, then definitely you're applicable for IAS Entrance Examination. No Minimum Percentage of marks are need for this Entrance Examination. The candidate who obtained in all subject pass mark then the candidate eligible for IAS Entrance Examination.

You're belong from Engineering stream, No issue regarding that, But Only issue is that you have to clear the pending backlogs which is necessary to participate in IAS Entrance Examination.

Yes, you are eligible to appear for IAS, Civil Service Exam after completion of Graduation in Engineering in Computer Science.

IAS - Indian Administrative Service and to become an IAS officer one has to get through Civil Service Examination conducted every year by UPSC.
