I am pursuing B.E degree in computer science and engineering..am i eligible to sit for the IAS exam??

yes any graduate in any stream is eligible for IAS exam. the maximum age limit is 30 years for general category. you can apply for IAS - 2013 if you are in last year of your b.tech.

Yes, you can appear for the exam. Graduation from a recognized University is the qualification mentioned for IAS. Selection is made through prelims, mains, and interview. Those who pass both the levels of written test can appear for interview. At the time of interview you are supposed to submit all documents proving your qualification. Otherwise you may get rejected.

To become an IAS Officer you have to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams

Minimum eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil Services exams is:


Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university
No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation


Age- Minimum 21 years
Maximum 30 years
OBC can apply till 33 years
SC/ST can apply till 35 years


Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts
General- 4 times
OBC-7 times
SC/ST-No Restrictions


UPSC Civil Services Exams are held in three stages:
Prelims
MAINS
Interview


Next prelims exams would be held in May 2014

IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service Examination .IAS is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year .IAS recruitment is organized by Civil Service Exam .

The Acronym "IAS" stands for Indian Administrative Services. To get selection in the Indian Administrative Services , you need to pass the Civil Services Examination.

The Civil Services Examination is one of the most prestigious and toughest examination conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

The Civil Services Exam gives candidates the opportunity to join the following services :

* Indian Administrative Services

* Indian Economic Services

* Indian Police Services

* Indian Foreign Services

As you are currently pursuing B.E. degree in Computer Science & Engineering , you are eligible for the Civil Services Exam or not depends upon whether you are in the final year or not.

If you are in the final year of B.E. , only then you are eligible for the exam otherwise not.

This is because the minimum educational qualification required for the Civil Services Exam is :

Either the candidate has completed graduation in any stream or the candidate must be in the final year of graduation.
