Candidate seeking for BCA program must have passed the +2 level of exam with a minimum of 50% marks with science subjects. Most institutes insist candidates should have pursued Mathematics in the +2 level. Also a Candidate seeking for admission to the three-year post graduate course in Master of Computer Applications, must have passed the Bachelors program with Mathematics as one of the subjects in +2 level.

However, a candidate may pursue BCA program from Indira Gandhi National Open University-IGNOU even if one has not studied maths in +2 level, in such case candidate will have to register for MTE-03 and CIC along with 1st semester of BCA. Such students have to successfully complete MTE-03 and CIC before registering for 3rd semester of BCA program.

yes my friend,you can do BCA after completing your education from arts background
but most important thing is that in your arts Education math should also been included.
if you completed your arts degree with math as optional subject then you can go for bca course.

Once you clear your 12th standard course, it is irrelevant whether you have done any other graduation course or not, you are by default eligible for a graduation course(whether it is a single graduation or a double, does not matter). But normally there is rule, that you have to be from science genre to go for science graduation, you have to be from commerce genre to go for commerce graduation, you have to be from arts genre to go for arts graduation in your prior education. Now so, being from English honors you become an arts graduate. And BCA is a technical education, which is itself a branch of science.
So for going into BCA course you will have to pursue distance education course. You can go distance level BCA in IGNOU. This can be done from any genre of graduation or higher secondary level people. This is a normal three year course and have the similar syllabus as that of regular BCA course. Please log onto www.ignou.ac.in to get the online forms for BCA.

Yes you can do BCA with arts background but try to take maths subject in BCA course as it

will be compulsory if you going to do MCA..as maths should be there either in graduation level or +2

level....

and now onwards there will be change in criteria i.e students need not have

Certificate in Computing (CIC) to get admission into BCA and MCA courses offered by IGNOU.

What is the point of doing 2 bachelor degrees? Since you are already pursuing BA, I wonder why do you want to do BCA. I will not recommend that. You should instead look for some post graduation course.


It makes no sense to do two graduation degrees. If your intention is to have a degree in computers then pursue MCA. Why are you going after BCA. The Bachelor of Computer Applications is not going to offer you great future.


You will have to do MCA in any case therefore may I suggest that you directly apply for MCA after completing BA rather than doing BCA first. Otherwise you should consider other options like MBA, B.Ed or MA degree.


The criteria for MCA and BCA would be almost same for you. Therefore if you are eligible then the right choice would be MCA.


Eligibility MCA

1. A graduation degree in any stream.

2. Minimum of 50 percent marks in graduation.

3. Maths should be one of subjects in 12th or Bachelor course.


Please note that the third criteria for Maths subject is also required for BCA. You should have Maths as a subject in 12th to pursue BCA.


If you meet this criteria then apply for MCA course. There are several entrance exams for the admission in MCA. You can apply in any of the following mentioned below.

If you satisfy these above mentioned criteria's then you are eligible for joining in this course.
