Yes you are eligible for CDS exam after completing graduation. CdS exam is conducted by UPSC 2 times in a year. CDS stands for combined Defence services and it is the entrance exam to get job in defence and after completing the selection a candidate will be sent for training then for posting

Yes you are eligible to give the CDS Examination next year. For more information please read the information written below.

CDS stands for Combined Defense Service and the CDS exam is basically conducted to recruit officers for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

CDS Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for twice every year. CDS-I takes place in the month of February and CDS II in the month of September. This year's CDS II is going to take place on 8th of September and the registration process of that exam is already over.

Depending on what wing you choose and what you get based on your performances you will be sent to that respective training institute. The ones who choose OTA will get firstly go to the Officers Training Academy(OTA), Chennai for orientation training. Cadets passing out of OTA get short service commission.

The preferences as mentioned above needs to be stated early one and you should state as many preferences as possible to increase your chance of getting selected. Girls will only get a chance to choose the OTA and the rest of the three wings are for boys.

Here is the tentative date of CDS I exam in year 2014:-

• Date of issue of the official notification is 02-11-2013.
• The applications are expected to be received till 02-12-2013.
• Downloads of the admit card will starts from 20-01-2013.
• Written examination is to be held on 09-02-2014.

For IMA and OTA you need a degree in any discipline of your choice. It should be a valid degree from a recognized university. No other educational qualification is required. For IMA the age limit is 19-24 years and for OTA it is 19-25 years.

For NA you need to get a B.Sc degree with physics and maths or you can get an engineering degree in any stream of your choice. The age limit for this wing is 19-22 years. Since you are already 22 and is going to be 23 next year therefore even if you want you can't unfortunately apply for this particular wing.

For AFA too you can either get a B.E./B.Tech degree in any stream of your choice or you can opt for a bachelor in science degree with physics and mathematics. The age limit of this wing is 19-23 years.

The selection procedure basically includes a written examination and if you manage to score good marks in this one then you will be shortlisted for an interview session which is going to be conducted by the SSB. In addition to that there are certain physical requirements which you need to satisfy as well.

Eligibilty for the CDS exams:


Education:
Indian Military Academy (IMA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream
Officers Training Academy (OTA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream
Indian Airforce- Graduation Pass with Physics and Mathematics as subjects in class 12th or BE/BTECH
Indian Navy - BE/BTECH


AGE LIMITS-
IMA- Between 19- 24 years
OTA Between 19- 25 years
NAVY - Between 19- 22 years
AIR FORCE - Between 19- 23 years

CDS 2014 Exams dates:
Exam date- 9th Feb 2014
Notification would come out on 2nd Nov 2013
