If your computer science course is equivalent to Graduation degree course then you are applicable for IAS exam .Because the minimum educational Qualification for IAS exam is GRADUATE.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam so if you want to go for IAS exam , you can attend to CSAT exam.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Inter View.

Optional Subject for IAS exam:-



These combination optional subjects is not allowed :-
  1. Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
  2. Commerce and Management
  3. Anthropology and Sociology
  4. Maths and Statistics
  5. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
  6. Management and Public Administration
  7. Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
  8. Any two branches of engineering
Mains Subject in IAS exam:-



Preliminary Examination can be divided into two papers and each paper consist of 200 Marks . The duration of examination is 2 hrs .

Paper - I :-
  1. Current Events of National and International Importance
  2. History of India and Indian National Movement
  3. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the world
  4. Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues
  5. Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives
  6. General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change
  7. General Science
Paper - II :-
  1. Comprehension
  2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  4. Decision-making and problem solving
  5. General mental ability
  6. Basic numeracy (Class X level)
  7. English language comprehension (Class X level)

You did not mention what you are doing right now. In any case i would like to tell you that it does not really matters which stream you have since to appear for IAS Exam you just need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Here i am shortlisting the required eligibility criteria for this examination. Please go through it properly.

IAS Eligibility Criteria:

=>It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university.

=>Your age should be between 21-30 years.

=>At the most you can attempt for four times.

Selection Procedure:
>>Preliminary Exam
>>Main Exam
>>Personal Interview

Eligibility of IAS is Graduation, if your computer science course is not a diploma course and it is graduation diploma course ,you are eligible to give IAS exam.


Eligibility Criteria For IAS:
> Minimum Qualification for IAS exam is Gradution.
> Age limit: 22 years and upper limit is 30 years.
> No. of Attempts: 5 for General category
7 for OBC
there is no limit for SC/ST

Scheme of Exam:
There are Two exams :
A. Preliminary
B. Main

(A.)Preliminary: this consist of two papers.
Paper 1.
General Studies of 150 marks
Paper 2.
one optional subjects of 300 Marks which can be select from the following list:

1.)Agriculture 2.)Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
3.)Botany 4.)Chemistry
5.)Civil Engineering 6.)Commerce
7.Economics 8.)Electrical Engineering
9.)Geography 10.)Geology
11.)Indian History 12.)Law
13.)Mathematics 14.)Mechanical Engineering
15.)Medical Science 16.)Philosophy
17.)Physics 18.)Political Science
19.)Psychology 20.)Public Administration
21.)Sociology 22.)Statistics
23.)Zoology

> Preliminary exam consist of Total 450 Marks.

B. Main Examination
> It will consist of the following papers :
Paper I:
One of the Indian languages of 300 Marks

Paper II:
English of 300 marks

Paper III
Essay of 200 marks

Papers IV and V
General Studies of 300 marks for each paper

Papers VI, VII, VIII and IX
>Any two subjects to be selected from the list of the optional subjects set out in para 2 below. Each subject will have two papers.
>300 marks for each paper

(e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.

(f) Management and Public Administration;

(g) Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering–not more than one subject.

(h) Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science.

Literature of one of the following languages :
Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.

> Main exam consist of total 2000 marks.

> Finally Interview carried out. which is consist of 300 marks.

there is no indivisual paper for computer science and engineering students i.e. civil enginerring, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.
