Re: Can I apply for IAS Exam being a candidate from ECE stream?
Yes you can apply for Indian Administrative Service. To do so you will have to clear the Civil Services Examination. This is the examination conducted for IAS, IPS and IFS.
Any graduate can apply for Civil Services Examination for Indian Administrative Service. You simply need to complete graduation from a recognized college. Which means that Electronics and Communication Engineers can also apply for the Civil Services Examination. To apply you will first have to wait for the official notification from the Union Public Service Commission. After which the forms are released. Generally the procedure of applying is done sometime in February or March. Once you have successfully registered for the exam you will be called for the Preliminary Exam in May. It is merely a qualifying exam to appear for second stage called Main Examination. If failed in preliminary, its game over. You will have to retry next year. After clearing preliminary you will appear for main examination. You will have to give your best in 9 writtent tests. Only the score of Main examination will be your final score. Marks of preliminary exam will not be added. IAS Criteria 1. Nationality: Must be Indian national. 2. Education: Minimum of graduation should be completed. 3. Marks: No criteria for the marks. 4. Age Limit: At least should be 21 years and not more than 30 years. 5. Relaxation: 3 years in upper age limit for OBC. 6. Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST. 7. Physical Criteria: There isn't any for IAS. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview Number of Attempts 1. General: 4 2. OBC: 7 3. SC/ST: No limit |
