Yes of course you are eligible to apply........!

Any engineer is eligible to appear for IES, but the candidate have to appear under the any of the 4 categories viz: 1)Civil Engineering, 2) MEchanical Engineering, 3) Electrical Engineering and 4) Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

So, you can appear for any of the relevant category and I think either Mechanical or Electronics & Telecomminication will be your relevant category.

However, if you are selected in the written exam then the eligibilty condition is that, you should have earned your B.Tech or B.E degree. This is only possible of you are in your final year of your undergraduate engineering course.

dear friend,
you are obviously eligible for IES but after completion of your degree.
Because UPSC doesn't allow the appearing student or the students who are waiting for their results.

for any confusion or any query reguarding IES, kindly visit :
www.upsc.gov.in

good luck.

You can definitely appear for the IES Exams because the academic eligibility
for IES Exam is graduation in Engineering. Conducted by the UPSC, the IES
Examination requires candidates to choose among the following categories of
engineering services:

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics & telecommunication Engineering

for recruitment in Electricity Boards, Indian Railways, Military Services,
Ordnance Factories,etc.

For more help on syllabus, question pattern and books, etc. refer to the sites

Dear friend,
yes you can appear for IES examination but you can not give paper from instrumentation subject because there are only 4 branches available for papers like 1- Mechanical 2- Civil 3- Electrical 4- Electronic and telecommunication.

i think electronic and telecommunication is better to choose for paper because from this branch you will get many subject related to instrumentation.

all the best.

Dear friend,

you can obviously apply for IES examination.

The examination is conducted for the branches of :

<1>Civil Engineering.

<2>Mechanical Engineering

If you have completed or in the last year of any of the above-mentioned engineering courses then you are eligible to apply for IES.

This exam is conducted by Government of India to employ people in various engineering organizations, such as Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), Central Engineering Service (CES), Military Engineering Services (IDSE) etc.

Here are two sites that you can search for more information:

You are eligible for IES exam. But you should be doing your final year because the eligibility criterion for IES is graduate from a recognized University with at least 50% marks. You should not be less than 21 years and not more than 30 years.

Hey friend,

Yes why not you can darely apply for the IES exam as you are from a electronics and instrumentation stream.

IES is Indian Engineering Service conducted by UPSC every year.
As far regarding the education qualification the candidates must have completed their degree in Engineering from a recognized university.

The candidates who are writing their final degree exam can also apply for this exam.

As far regarding the age limits you must have a age limit of 21-30 years so that you will be eligible to apply for the exam.

All the best.

dear friend,
yes you can give ies exam but you will have to apply as electronics and telecommunication engineer because only four streams of b.tech are eligible for giving the exam. these are mechanical, civil, electrical and electronics and telecommunication.
you will not find any difficulty in giving the exam because most of the subject of electronics and instrumentation are same to electronics and telecommunication.
the age limit for the exam is 21 to 30 years which can increase to 35 years for sc/st students.
for more details regarding the exam, you can visit
www.upsc.gov.in

IES(indian engineering services)exam is conducted UPSC is for engineers once in every year.
eligibility of IES exam in terms of academic qualification is a bachelors degree in engineering with major streams as:

As your stream of engineering is electronics and instrumentation you are eligible to apply for IES exam.
apply for IES exam after completing or when you are in your final year.

dear friend,

as you know there have no option for Instrumentation Engineering student.

IES is eligible for given below department of engineering.

1.Civil Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Mechanical engineering.
4.Electronics and Communication Engineering.

you can choose any of these above subject as per your IES exam.

All the best

See the list branches for Engineering Services Examination :-
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
So,my point your not eligible to write the examination.Because your stream is not in the above list.If you have any branch in above list. You are eligible to apply for this examination.

My suggestion is go for the Civil Service examination. For Civil Service the candidate must have a graduate degree in any Discipline.

The applicant age should between 21 years to 30 years.

Those in the final year of examination can also apply for the examination.
