Eligibility For IAS and IPS

The recruitment for the IAS and IPS is done by the UPSC through the Civil Services Exam which is conducted every year in 3 stages :-

>> Prelims

>> Mains

>> Final Interview

As per the UPSC guidelines, the candidates must have the following minimum eligibility criterion for appearing in the exam :-

1) Candidates must be within the age limit of 21-30 years if belonging to the general category (relaxation in age as per the government norms for the reserved categories)

2) The candidate must have also completed his graduation or should be in the final year of his graduation in any stream from a recognized College..

There is no physical requirements specifically mentioned for becoming an IAS officer but for an IPS officer, a candidate must have these minimum conditions :-

The last date for the submission of forms for the Preliminary exams for 2012 was 5th March,2012 which is already over..

The Prelims shall be conducted on 20th October,2012 and the Mains will be conducted on 5th October,2012

For more details about the exam you can visit http://upsc.gov.in

all the best..

With Warm Regards

You must be an INDIAN CITIZEN.

You are allowed only 4 attempts if you are from general category and No limit and 7 attempts for the SC/ST and OBC category candidates respectively.

If you are in the final year of Graduation then also you are eligible to appear in the exams of CIVIL SERVICES.

Yes, you are eligible may be not for IPS but for IAS , as there is no such medical fitness and qualifications for IAS as compared for IPS.
Age :- 21 to 30 years ,relaxation for reserved category

If after wearing specs your eyes are 6/6.

There is no problem with -6 number.

Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year is conducted by UPSC

Minimum Eligibility for IAS/IPS exam

Minimum Qualification

1.Graduated from recognized university in any discipline.
2.final year student can also apply.

Age should be between

21 to 30 years for General category candidates
21to 33 year for OBC category candidates
21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

Number of attempts:

4 attempts for General category candidates.
7 attempts for Obc category candidates
14 attempts for SC/ST category candidates.

There are 3 stages in IAS that should be cleared by the candidate.

first one is preliminary exam (it is objective type exam)
second is main exam (Question to be answer in length)
third is personal interview

Clearing one will get you to another level exam.
