No you are not eligible for the Merchant Navy on your std 10th educational qualification. The minimum qualification required is 12th.

The eligibility for the examination conducted by the UPSC twice in a year as NDA entrance examination is ;-
* Candidates pursuing or passed 10+2 examination from a recognised board.
* Age of candidates must be less than 16.5 yeas and greater than 19 years.
* Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.

The entrance examination conducted for the same is conducted in two stages as Written and SSB.
Only candidates who qualifies in the written which is of 900 marks and consists questions from Mathematics and General Ability.There are 120 questions of mathematics and 150 from General Ability.

Only candidates who qualifes in the written examination are eligibe for the SSB. After final selection in the SSB. You are given a proper training for some years and after that you are finally recruited in the Navy.

The application for the same is available on the www.upsc.gov.in. in the month of January and July.

No, you can't join Merchant Navy after completion of 10th standard.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy exam-

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

After qualifying Secondary level of examination, the only mode of entry in Merchant Navy is General Purpose Rating which comprise of Deck Crew and Engine Crew.

For any kind of job in Merchant Navy like Deck Cadet, you must be at least 12th Pass in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

This is the basic qualification that you will need. My advice is that continue with your studies and complete 12th. Hopefully you have taken science stream in 11th. Students of other streams have no opportunities in the Merchant Navy.
