Age Limits :- Unmarried Male and Female and age should not be More than 20 years but for SC/ST it has been relaxed to 5 Years.

Academic Qualifications :-
10+2 Class or Equivalent with Chemistry , Maths and Physics as Subjects.

Equivalent Examination includes CBSE , ICSE , State Boards

As you have Completed 12 and if your Subjects were PCM then you are Eligible for joining Merchant Navy as a Deck Cadets.

More Information :-

Selection is based on JEE Examination conducted by IIT a merit list is prepared after the written test and interview are completed and the Director General of Shipping has the authority to chose which of the 2 training programmes the candidate is best suited for (students can let their preference be known) Both the T.S. Chanakya and MERI institutions do help (under no Government obligations) in recruiting their graduates in suitable Indian Shipping Companies.

The Marine Engineers are responsible for efficient operation of the ship and maintenance of main engine and the auxiliary engines.

well after 12th you are eligible to join as deck cadet(3yrs) and training engineering officers(4 yrs) as well

Candidate should have complete 12th standard with MPC stream from any recognized university with 60% marks in maths,physics and chemistry

Age should be between 18 20 years

Then apply for admission.
If they fulfill with your requirements then allow you to join in their colleges for Merchant Navy course.

sir, for joining marine engineering you should to be science student and passed with minimum 50 percent in pcm you should to be above 55 percent and then you can fill forms like bits which gives you course of bsc and then a high package for this you have to do bsc and apply after that also or there is some merchant navy forms available in stationary shops in that form there whole requirement is written in form and then they offers you a course and training.

You have to apply for IIT JEE(Joint Entrance Exam) the exam is conducted by UPSC(union public service commission).

* Candidates should complete 12th standard from a recognized institute
* Candidates should study physics,maths and chemistry at 12th
* Candidates should get 60% at 12th.
* Candidates should have the age limit within 19 to 23 years of age.
* Unmarried male candidates only can appear for this exam.
* You should be physically fit.

1)Candidate should have Indian nationality.

2)Their age must be between 18-42 yrs on 25.02.11

3)should have Graduate from any recognize university.

my good friend coming in merchant navy means coming in hell, Don't go on salary what a seaman's (Deck officer's, marine engineers or crew) get's they gets only after when they get experience, and my friend's there r none of the company which takes fresher. U will get experience when u will get job ,and there r no jobs for freshers in merchant navy believe me as am facing same problem. and there r lots of harassment of senior which u have to bare. my best advised for you all to never think of merchant navy its a worst career no respect full of headache

As your a commerce student you cannot so through exams like NDA and CDS but there are job opportunities for you in Indian Navy like you can go through SSB board.Its better that you go through NCC course which will benefit you in the Entrance exam like SSB board.
