I want to join indian army but my age is 24 so can join? please tell me the possibley

Yes it is possible for you to join the army. But you need to have completed graduation. You can apply through the SSC scheme. You will need to clear the test and the interview round. Clearing even the physical fitness round is a must. You can visit the official site to know the details.

Indian army is the world’s second largest standing army, greater than that of People’s Republic of China and still it is short of manpower. So for those who want to serve the nation, it is time to join Indian armed forces.

Before applying for the post, let us first understand the basic structure of armed force, as it will help us in deciding where we stand in terms of our candidature.

Once we are clear about the Indian army and its ranks, let us have a look at the different processes for selection and the related eligibility criteria.

Permanent Commission
Eligibility: Men with 10+2/ Intermediate, graduates and engineering graduates as officers

Recruitment of Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces is mainly through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

10+2: Through NDA
Eligibility: Boys with age between 16.5 years to 19 years.

Conducted by UPSC, twice a year in all major cities. There is an interview process with the State Selection Board after clearing the exam. The notification for the exams appears in all major newspapers and publication in addition to the official website.

Graduates (Direct Entry)
Eligibility: age 19-24 years, University graduate or equivalent

Combined Defense Services Examination (CDSE), an all-India competitive examination is conducted by UPSC twice a year. After the interview conducted by Service Selection Board, successful candidates can join Indian Military Academy for their pre- commission training. If finally selected, depending on their merit list ranking, they are sent to Indian Military Academy.

Engineering Graduates (Direct Entry)
Eligibility: Age 20-27 years, engineering graduate

An interview is conducted by Service Selection Board and engineering graduate can directly joint the Indian Military Academy.

Univeristy Entry Scheme
Eligibility: Age 18-24 years, students in final or pre-final years of engineering degree course

They are eligible for induction into technical branches/services of the army.

10+2 (PCM Tech)
Eligibility: Age 161/2-191/2 years, 10+2 PCM (Technical)

One has to apply directly to the Recruitment Directorate in May and November.

Other recruitments
Eligibility: Serving JCOS/NCOs/OR in age group of 30-35 years, with an Army Senior School Certificate Pass (Class XI CBSE Pattern) Qualification

Government has approved the creation of a 6,000 strong Support Cadre of Special Commissioned Officers. For commissioning eligible candidates will be selected after screening /selection through Service Selection Board and Medical Board.

Short Service Commission
If one is not sure of a long-term career with Indian army then SSC is the way to go. It gives an option of joining in the Indian Army and serving as a Commissioned officer for 5 years. At the end of the period, you are allowed to opt for a permanent commission. Alternatively you can also choose for another 5 years and also can choose to resign from your post at any time during this period. It is also open to women.

Qualification to Joining the Army as Officer

Candidates who wish to join Indian Army as officer should have minimum passed a graduation degree. Only the candidates in the age group of 18 to 42 years can join Army. Those fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for the NDA test which is held twice a year. The date of exam will be published in the leading newspapers, in employment news and also in the official site of Indian Army. Those who pass the written test are eligible to appear for the SSB interview followed by a complete medical check up.

Qualification to Joining Army as a Junior Commissioned Officer

The candidates interested to join Indian Army as Junior Commissioned Officer should have at least a graduation along with NCC ‘C’ certification. Here all the candidates who apply for the post will be first interviewed by the Commanding Officer and then by the Sub Area/ Area Command Headquarters. After the interview session, the list of recommended candidates will be forwarded to the Directorate General of the Territorial Army.

Qualification to Joining Army as a Jawan

The minimum educational qualification needed is a matriculation. The interested eligible candidates should have to report to the recruitment office on the designated dates for taking in the tests. The test will be based on the laid down procedures. The selected ones have to go through the medical and police verification.

Training Institutes in India

The coaching centres for SSB interview after NDA test is there in almost all parts of India. The fees for the whole course will be in the range of about Rs. 5000. Among the various coaching institutes, some of the most prominent ones are listed below
