Can a person with a power of 1.5 in one eye and 0.75 in other eye be eligible for Deck Officer? What is the educational eligibility for deck officers?


can a person having a power of 1.5 in his one eye and 0.75 in his other eye is eligible for deck officer.

what is educational eligibility for deck officer.

No, as per my knowledge you are not eligible for deck officer post as candidates who wants to be a deck officer should have normal eyesight of 6/6 with no color blindness.

Candidates must have completed their intermediate in science stream from a recognized board with minimum of 65% marks or B.SC with minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.

For deck officer a candidate must have full sight eye side which is 6/6 without any color blindness, where 0.5+ or 0.5- can be neglect if other eligibility suits him well.

** A candidate need to have passed class 10+2 with science stream with minimum 55% and need to pursue following course:

>> B.S Nautical Technology
This is 3+1 year course available only in India.Degree is offered by Birla Institute of technology and science, Pilani

>> B.Sc . Nautical Science
This is also 3 years deck officer training course offered both in India and U.K.
Institute: Academy of maritime education and training, Chennai

>> H.N.D Nautical Science
Higher National diploma is 2 years course which is conducted between Indian institute and one in the U.K in liaison with each other.
Institute: AMET University , Chennai in collaboration with South Tyneside College, U.K
