Hello friend,
Any individual who holds a bachelors degree in engineering and is within the age limit of 21-30 years, is eligible for the engineering service exam conducted by union public service commission. But the examination is conducted in only four disciplines of engineering which are:
Mechanical engineering
Civil engineering
Electrical engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication engineering

So, you will have to appear for papers in any of the above mentioned groups of engineering.

dear friend,
Yes, production engineers can also appear in IES exam..
But you have to write the exam on the syllabus of Mechanical stream..

Eligibility to appear in IES exam:-

*The candidate must have complete the bachelor degree in engineering..
*The candidate should not have any due backlogs..
*The candidates age should be in between 21-30 years..
For SC/ST the age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the age relaxation is 3 years..

As you have done your bachelor degree in engineering then you are eligible for IES exam, but you must fulfill the age criteria also.
The only criteria is you have to appear in that exam in the syllabus of any of these stream mention below-
1.Electronics
2.Electrical
3.Mechanical
4.Civil
As you are from production branch then it will be easier for you to appear in IES exam on the syllabus of mechanical stream..
If you agree to do this, then you can go for the exam..
All the best..

Yes,dear friend you can write IES exam, because every student who hold a bachelor degree from engineering background are eligible to write this exam. But unfortunately in IES the production engineering paper is not there. In IES only mechanical, electrical, electronics, civil papers are available. So you can write any of the above papers, but my suggestion is to write IES in Mechanical paper because production engineering is quite related with mechanical engineering
ALL THE BEST
