i want to appear for the exam.

Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS Exam) is conducted twice a year by UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. CDS Exam is usually conducted in February and September.
CDS Exam 2011 (II)

Date of Notification: 7th May, 2011

Last Date to Apply: 6th June, 2011

Exam Date: 18th September, 2011

C.D.S stands for the Combined Defense Service.

The details and eligibility for C.D.s exam are :

ELIGIBILITY :

You must be either -
A citizen of India.
OR
A subject of Bhutan.
OR
A subject of Nepal.
OR
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanent ion of permanently setting in India.

CDS Eligibility :

1) For IMA - unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1987 ( 2nd July, 1987 in case of NCC/Naval wing 'C' Certificate Holder) and not less than July,1992 only are eligible.

2) For Naval Academy - Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1989 ( 2nd july, 1987 in case of NCC/Naval wing 'C' Certificate Holder) and not later than 1st July, 1992 only are eligible.

3) For Air Force Academy-Unmarried male candidate born not earlier than 2nd July, 1988 and not later then 1st July, 1992 only are eligible.

4) For Officers training Academy ( SSC Course for Men ) : Male Candidate ( married or unmarried born not earlier than 2nd July, 1986 and not later than 1st July, 1992 only eligible.

5) For Officers training Academy - ( SSC Course for men ) : Male candidates ( married or Unmarried born not earlier than 2nd July, 1985 and not later than 1st July, 1991 only are eligible.

OR

6) For Officer ' training Academy - ( SSC women Non-Technical Course) :

Unmarried women, issue less windows who have not remarried, and issue less divorces who have not remained are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1986 and not later than 1st July 1992.

The date of birth accepted by the commission is that entered in the Matriculation or secondary school Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by the an Indian University as equivalent to matriculation or in an extract from a register of Martriculates maintained by a university which extract must be certified by the proper authorities of the university or in the high secondary equivalent examination certificates.
These certificates are required to be submitted only after the declaration of the result of the written part of the examination. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The exception Matriculation/Higher secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

If you are study in Final year Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply but they will be required to submit proff of passing the degree examination to reach the Army HQ/Rtg. CDS Entry, West Block III, R K Puram, New Delhi- 110066 in case of IMA/ SSC first choice candidates are PO3 Air HQ 'j' Block, Room No. 17, Opp. Vayu Bhawan, motilal Nehru Marg , New Delhi - 110011 in case of Air Force first choice candidates by the following dates failing which their candidates will stand cancelled.

1) For admission to IMA, Naval and Air Force Academy on or before 13th May,2011.

2) For admission to officer's Training Academy, Chennai on or before 1st August,2011

Combined defence service examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. To apply for this examination a candidate should be graduate in any discipline from the recognized university.

For the Indian Air force and Navy candidate should have physics and maths at 10+2 level.

Those appeared in the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the combined defence service examination.

The date of CDS examination for the year 2012 has not been declared yet by the UPSC. Only the tentative dates are given. Below is the date for the CDS examination is given:
